Microcredits for women’s groups
At present there is room for studios and small shops in which the original and poorest part of the population – the Tharus – can work on and sell their arts and crafts products. An agreement with Return to Sender has been concluded with them. Thanks to this organisation a beautiful workshop was constructed. Also see www.sapanadesign.com.
Healthcare
A team from Medical Checks for Children has been visiting Sapana Village Lodge every year since 2006. Starting 2010, BUNCH has taken over this care. During one week this team of approximately ten doctors, nurses and other experts medically check an average of 1,000 children from the area and supply them with the necessary medication. During these checks Sapana Village Lodge arranges the logistics, takes care of the information in the villages, and provides the translators. The annual checks demonstrably improved the children’s health conditions in the villages that were visited.
Education
At the moment we are developing plans to improve education in the village. First of all we want to set up a school for children and young people of the ages from 1 to 18 years old in which, eventually, 600 children will receive education based on 21st century standards. The school will be constructed in various stages.
