Background

In 2003 Ruud Bakhuizen came into contact in a roundabout way with Dhruba Giri, a highly entrepreneurial Nepalese man who had overcome poverty all by himself by working extremely hard. The start of his ‘Sapana village’ hotel and restaurant has been partly financed by FEMI. For Dhruba it was a dream come true. In Nepalese, Sapana means ‘dream’. By now Sapana Village is doing well and no longer needs financial support from FEMI. The social projects Dhruba is developing via Sapana Village are advocated and supported by FEMI. The integral approach is currently being incorporated within the social projects. For more information, please see www.sapanalodge.com.
