The objective of the project is to improve the quality of life and the outlook for the future of 2,500 impoverished Peruvian families of farmers – approximately 15,000 men, women, children and elderly – substantially.
Method
The project uses a working method that stimulates the families of farmers to improve the quality of their lives in an unorthodox manner, namely by motivating them to enter competitions. During the competitions the farmers from the villages in the work region and their wives are being educated in Instructional visits to families and villages that have already implemented the necessary changes. Subsequently, and after returning to their own villages, the farmers and their wives immediately start implementing the newly acquired knowledge in their own living situations. The principle of ‘setting a good example’ then results in the transfer of knowledge to families that have not participated in the educational visits.
